Privacy Policy

In short: Clipping Agent runs on your own machine. Your video files, transcripts, and platform credentials are processed and stored locally. Nothing is sent to any server operated by Clipping Agent, because no such server exists — the only network calls the Service makes are directly to the platforms you explicitly connect (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram), using your own authorization.

1. Who This Applies To

Clipping Agent is a self-hosted, personal-use automation tool. It is not a multi-tenant hosted service — there is no account signup, and each installation processes only the video content and platform credentials belonging to the person running it.

2. Information We Process

The Service processes the following categories of data, entirely on the local machine it runs on:

Source video files you explicitly provide (a local file, or a single YouTube URL you own or have permission to clip). Video is never fetched automatically or in bulk.
Transcripts and derived analysis (word-level speech-to-text and clip-worthiness scoring), generated locally from the source video.
Rendered clip files, the vertical short-form videos produced from selected moments.
Platform authorization credentials (OAuth tokens) for any platform you choose to connect, obtained directly from that platform's own official consent screen and stored locally in a permissions-restricted file.

3. TikTok Account Data

If you connect a TikTok account, the Service requests only the following scopes, granted directly by you through TikTok's own OAuth consent screen:

video.publish — used exclusively to post a video you have generated to your own connected TikTok account via TikTok's Content Posting API.
user.info.basic — used only to confirm which TikTok account is currently authorized.

This data is:

Used solely to publish content to the TikTok account you explicitly authorized.
Never sold, rented, or shared with any third party, and never used for advertising or profiling.
Stored only locally, on the machine you run the Service on — not transmitted to or stored on any server operated by Clipping Agent.
Retained only until you revoke access. You can revoke the Service's access to your TikTok account at any time from TikTok's own app permissions settings, which immediately and completely stops any further access.

Until a TikTok Content Posting API app completes TikTok's audit process, any video posted through that app — including by this Service — is restricted by TikTok itself to private ("Only Me") visibility, regardless of any setting requested by the app.

4. YouTube and Instagram Account Data

The same principles apply to YouTube and Instagram: authorization is granted directly by you through each platform's own consent screen, requesting only the scopes needed to upload a video and confirm it was published successfully (for YouTube: uploading and reading back a video's own status; for Instagram: publishing to a Reels container you control). Credentials are stored locally, used only to act on your explicit instruction, and can be revoked at any time from that platform's own account settings.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

A rendered clip is deleted from local storage automatically, but only after the Service has confirmed — via a live check against the destination platform's own API — that the upload actually succeeded. If that confirmation fails for any reason, the local file is kept rather than deleted, so content is never silently lost. A local record is kept of which clips have already been published to which platform, solely to prevent the same clip from being posted twice; this record contains no content beyond a cryptographic fingerprint of the clip file, the destination platform, and the resulting post identifier.

6. No Advertising, No Data Sales, No Third-Party Sharing

Clipping Agent does not display advertising, does not sell or rent personal data, and does not share video content, transcripts, or platform credentials with any third party other than the destination platform you explicitly direct a given clip to be published to.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and is not intended to process video content or account credentials belonging to children.

8. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time; material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
